Tomorrow is The Superbowl. Got any ideas which is the best Sports bar in the city? One with lots of big screen Tvs and good stuff to eat!

1. Kimi I have no idea, as I don't watch sports, I only play sports. To
me sports is not a spectator activity, it is a verb, an action a human takes.
About the only bars I went to were the tourist bars, along Broadway or the cable car lines, as I last lived on the cable car line.
I would say, if you don't want to ride your bike, read a book.

2. Meh, you're no fun..."Read a book!" wtf??
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 07:34 PM by AsahinaKimi
The Superbowl only happens once a year. This is not the World Series, that goes seven games, this is not the Final Four, or the NBA Playoffs.

The Superbowl is the FINAL game..it happens JUST once..Winner take all. Tell you what, you go read a book,

I am going to watch the game.

3. Suit yourself, you asked for recommendations and I gave you one.
I would like to read a book, but I have no good non-fiction titles on my list. How about a good recommendation for me as to an interesting book, non-fiction, sailing adventure, motorcycle adventure, something like the Shackleton book they are writing about today, I think it was called "Endeavor".
PS
Ya seen one football game, n' ya seen 'em all.
You want fun, play football.
What is MTT and the symphony doing tomorrow? I could go for that.

Maybe you hate watching sports, but I grew up going to the 49ers games..with my family. So, excuse me if, my desires don't meet up with your quality of thinking.

why don't you take the advice you gave to Kim...Next time you wish to attend the symphony, don't bother, go play an instrument instead.

You obviously must be bored, being on this forum that you would have to respond to a SPORTS RELATED question.

10. I can't think of anything more boring than sitting and watching a football
game. Unless it is a baseball game. Or a basketball game.

BJ's (Cupertino) has many screens plus microbrew. Both have bars and full dining.

Niners and Saints lover AND Cowpies hater!!

By "Saints fan", I mean "not rooting for the team that abandoned my home town of Baltimore tomorrow."

P.S. If you're up for the trek. I hear good things about the Britannia Arms over by the Shark Tank. :hi:

Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 09:43 PM by AsahinaKimi
I would have to stay over night to see a hockey game in San Jose, in a hotel or motel.

Still, I might venture across the bay to go see the Lakers take on the Warriors.. that would be awesome!

24. Motel or Hotel..
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 10:05 PM by AsahinaKimi
I don't think the train runs late at night. I would have to stay over night, and I would have to find a cheap place to stay, cause I don't want to spend a lot of money just for one Hockey game. (Good seats were like 90 dollars!)

I used to go see a game at the Duck Pond, and the Staples center..but that was when I would go with friends who had a car. Driving back from LA to Santa Barbara was only like two hours or so.

Now, I live back in the Bay Area, I don't have that many friends who go to San Jose for Hockey games. Most of the time, I go to games be it the 49ers or the Giants by myself.

28. Last train leaves SJ at 10:30 Mon.-Sat.
Diridon Station is a mere block or two from the Tank.

And as for a cheap place to stay, well... that could be arranged. :-)

27. Wow, me too...The only time in my life I ever saw
people actually "dancing In The Streets" after the game. Couldn't drive, it was like everyone in San Francisco just had to get outside. On our way out of the parking lot, I got out of my rides car and told them "I'll get back when I get back" and went out and partied while they tried to drive to the bridge and back to Sacramento.

Been to Super Bowls too.

I (as in my family) was a season ticket holder from 1960 until last year.

And if it was me, I would go to Lefty O'Douls in Union Square. Maybe not a sports bar per se, but a great bar with food (Not free, the exact opposite of free) but I have always had an amazing time in there. Great beer selection on tap.

There is the bar at the corner of Columbus and Broadway (North Beach)that is a sports bar if memory serves me. I really liked it but it has been a long time since I was there though...

There is a nice bar in the Marina too, on Lombard about two blocks east of Divisadero.

Tornado has great beer and will be the hoppingest tonight. Rosamunde sausages next door. Memphis Minnies across the street. Would be my second choice.

The Kezar Club (Haight street and Kezar) will be slamming too.

There is one good bar down the Wharf way but can't remember the name. Down past the wharf towards the Ghirardelli end....And the bar in the HYATT sucks. Expensive expense account type place. Advertise as a sports bar but way too many yuppie hotel people for my tastes...

Pat O'Sheas MadHatter on Geary was a pleasant place to go to watch sports. No idea what it might be like these days...
