20. I, um...

forgot it was Valentine's Day. I sat home and watched DVDs and ate cake and drank Applejack. Then, this morning I awoke to being told in 3 separate conversations that my best friend (C), my partner in starting my NPO (Roxy) and the woman I want to be dating and can't because fate intervenes repeatedly. (Currently we live 100s of miles apart and she's dating a schmuck. We'll call her S.) are all dating guys who blew-off the holiday.

C was expecting it at least, she told him that she didn't want him to spend money on her because he's saving up to buy her a diamond but she isn't supposed to know because it's a secret but does know because she's not an idiot. She just thought he'd be creative rather than staying home and watching Jeopardy and calling her to wish her a happy V-Day.

Roxy's new bf (they've been dating since mid-late December) invited her to brunch, then cancelled, then told her that they hadn't been together long enough to celebrate V-Day.

S is being strange. (She's fairly oblivious, but I think even she has noticed that I'm smitten with her. Everyone else has.) She told Roxy and not me that she wasn't/didn't celebrate the holiday...but didn't give any real detail. I'm hoping schmuck got the boot...I don't care, I'll move closer even without a job and live under a bridge to take a chance.
