Once again NBC prooves why they are the WORST network to carry the Olympics
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 05:08 PM by LynneSin
You'd think somewhere someone would make a note to not send sports news alerts to iphone users with MSNBC. Especially during one of the biggest sporting events where all the evening broadcasts are rebroadcasts from earlier events.

1. Yes NBC blows it but for many other reasons
1. The human interest stuff is not interesting. It's a sporting event People want sports and want it live. Rebroadcast if you want but show live events live.

2. They overpaid and are losing money

3. Anything with Bob Costas in the frame sucks.

ESPN needs to do the olympics. They know how to do big live sports events happening simultaneously...... They've had lots of practice with World Cups and and they can put all the human interest stuff on some channel the create called ESPNsyrup.

8. Are they so broke they can't afford more than 2 cameras or something?
They've certainly become quite the laughing stock over their "coverage." If anybody could CALL it coverage. Which I don't.

9. Your first reason is all I need to trumpet "Hell, yeah."
Your second is correct, and your third is perfectly spot on. Still, better Costas than Joe Buck.

2. Women's hockey instead of men's in the heart of prime time last night
not to be flagrantly sexist here, but women's hockey hasn't evolved nearly to the point that, say, women's soccer and basketball have. Really only the U.S. and Canada field competitive teams.

So I was all setlled in for Alex Ovechkin and Russia, only to find out that a women's game came first. I only caught the first period of the Russia game before bedtime. :(

5. If I want to look at polar bears, I can watch Animal Planet
Really, NBC? You have 2600 athletes from 80 nations competing for 250 medals and you're giving us polar bears?

NBC's response: "You can't please everybody." Really, NBC? Really? Was there a clamor for more nature programming in the Olympics?

Please, please, please let ESPN win the rights for 2014.

7. That is EXACTLY what I told them in my email.

Great minds really DO think alike. I also told them that even though I like Bob Costas I don't want to see him TALK about the Olympics. I want to WATCH the olympics. Same with Mary what's her name.
