Paradox: why the most difficult decisions are actually the easiest.
I thought some of my DU friends might this little bit of pseudo-folk wisdom helpful.

Years ago I was in the midst of a legal dispute and was at a crossroads - I was faced with a decision which could have profound consequences on my life. During a consultation with my attorney I explained my frustration at not being able to make up my mind.

"Well, have you carefully weighed all of your options? Usually if you're thorough, a solution will present itself-"

A little impatiently, I cut him off. "Yes, I've done that. I've made a list, I've done that. I'm stuck."

He nodded. "Then it's easy, flip a coin," he said. "With the available knowledge, at this point in time, either choice will be the best choice you can possibly make."

Now maybe this will seem obvious or trivial to some, but at that moment, with my head clouded by the fog of legal battle, it was a revelation.

I did flip a coin, and things worked out fine. And a side benefit: if things don't work out, you can blame it on fate!
