Ode to my dog

Driving down the street one day, I saw a bunch of pups and stopped
You I could have because you were defective
Not the right color, not good enough to sell
But just right for me
White with black markings, my daughter named you Pretty Girl
Pretty bad girl it turned out
But we loved you just the same
Never learned to heel, never learned to fetch
But boy did you love to steal the ball and run the yard
Catch me if you can
I never could

Rest in peace Pretty Girl
I'll love you always
See you on the other side

my friend's dog recently passed away, and he confided to me that he blubbered uncontrollably while cleaning the poop in the back yard for the last time. They really take a piece of your heart when they pass.

Our pets are really the greatest companions, aren't they? I just lost one of my kitty kids last month due to kidney disease and one last year. I know how your heart is breaking right now. Time is the great healer, though. You never forget, it just gets easier to remember the joy that they gave you over the years.
