What did you think of "Taking Woodstock"?
I thought it was pretty good. I heard mixed reviews of it. If you watched it as a movie about a kids relationship with his parent and not about Woodstock, it thought it was good. Good acting. Nice story line.

1. Didn't see it, but let me guess.

It was to change the narrative of some of the ideas hippies were about.

What were the biggest themes? drugs? getting laid? playing in the mud?

Or did they discuss the peace concepts, how society does not need to be at war, and how people can help each other, and how love, is a better way.

Did they discuss the prevailing ideas of the music community of that era?

Taking Woodstock, or Taking the image of the Woodstock idea.

A free concert put on by people wanting to share music.

What themes did that movie present?

2. It was about a twenty-something kid
who's the president of the Chamber of Commerce. He grants a permit to the promoters of Woodstock to hold the festival it in his community. The townspeople are pissed at him. But it also focuses on his relationship with his parents. Woodstock is somewhat of a backdrop for the action.

5. It was ok....
I didn't know what it was about when I started watching it. But it was soo apparent it was about a son's relationship with his parents. But, I just never felt moved. It just kinda moseyed along 'til it ended. The climax was less than exciting. And the end was predicted.

6. I saw it...
I thought it might be a bit more funny then what the trailers showed. I was pulled in by the trailers and after, for years hearing about the event. I was disappointed in the movie. If I could have gotten my ten dollars back, I probably would have.

7. Did you see the documentary "Woodstock"?
That was about the event. Excellent movie. Very innovative regarding cinematography and editing techniques.

8. Rented it once..
I do like documentaries. It was far more interesting the this movie was. As I said, I was expecting a comedy, and felt the trailer hyped it more then it really was.

9. I enjoyed it.
It was definitely more about family and relationships than about the festival but I knew that going into it so I wasn't disappointed.

I thought the portrayal of the main characters, particularly mom & dad, were very well done.
