What are some things that live up to their hype?
I kinda hate the "I think this SUX" kind of threads, so why don't you share some things that live up to their reputation.
I'll start:
Rocky Mountain National Park
The Dixie Chicks
The Mayo Clinic

Also, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Weezer (not that there's ever really been much hype round them because they're too cool for hype), naps on the couch, and sleeping in.

Oh, and pancakes. :9

I thought when I got a dog it would be nothing more than a poop and puke machine. Not true at all. He's a poop and puke machine that loves me! Puppehs are good too! Plus I found someone who likes crappy pizza crust! BONUS!

edited to ad an s to like. vodka is not overrated either. It's the reason for the lack of said consonant.

This item is awesome! A round brush that spins. I could not master using a regular round brush and a hairdryer. My hair always ended up looking like a pom pom on my head. This item helps my hair to look shinny and straight.

8. Visiting Chinatown in San Francisco

Its more fun than any mall, and like visiting China without a passport. Theres lots of great places to eat. There are stores that sell all kinds of things from Teas to Jade items. You can find clothing, toys, music, videos, and just about anything you can think of for lower prices. There are places that will totally amaze you. I have lived nearly all my life in this city, and each time I go to Chinatown.. I find something new.

41. Just today I talked about buying muscat grapes in Chinatown.
I worked at a school in Chinatown years ago, and I often bought super-cheap produce and carried it all the way home, halfway across the city, to The Mission.

About half the time, I walked home from work! That's a long way to walk! But I NEVER got bored walking around San Francisco.

The produce markets in Chinatown were my favorite. But IMHO, the best ones are out of the way of tourists, more toward Kearney st. and almost to North Beach.

14. the iPod
I remember the people saying, "I've got to pay HOW much to listen to my music again?"

I've bought Albums, Tapes, CD's, and now Digital (umpteen dollars on iTunes) and an iPod, shuffle, and prob an iPhone in the future.

Thanks to the Almighty Apple, I listen to music more than ever and all the time. I used to lug around a case full (25 or so) cassettes and then a binder of cd's (50 or so), now I carry a few weeks worth of continuous music in my shirt pocket.

"Hi, I'm 58 but I look 59. I have travelled expensively in the journey of life and my baggage is half full. I appreciate the finer things in life like a good whine and tantrum sex, but I also value the simple things like vegemite sandwiches and reverse parking. I love music from major to minor and everything in between. I believe in honesty, it's all around us, and I believe everything people tell me. I have a grave sense of humour, I dig laughing. Players welcome, even drummers."

53. Yosemite Valley
I expected it to be another worn-out, beat-up national park with famous sights that you can just see in pictures. But it was like entering another world that is better than this world, and it had a remarkably pristine look, considering the hundreds of millions of people that have been there and the impact that they have had. Of course that was in the spring before the massive summer crowds, but still I was surprised at how unspoiled it looked.
