Name something slightly underrated/not fully appreciated
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 01:06 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
By that, I don't mean that indie band that no one's ever heard of that you think is the best band ever (which it very well could be, but who knows?)

I mean things (people, places, movies, music, etc.) that are commonly known amongst the general public but not given the respect they fully deserve.

I'll start:

Jimmy Carter
Florida's natural beauty
Everglades National Park (on a similar note)
The Smashing Pumpkins as great band of the 1990s
Mike Judge as a director

I really enjoy the music and often very clever entertaining lyrics. MUCH better than most of the writing in mainstream Rock N' Roll

7. Superman....
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 01:15 PM by petersond
its true, he is probably one of the most well known superheroes, and one of the first of the Superhero era, but in all my travels amongst Comic Book havens, and fanatics, I've only come across 2 other Superman fans. In short, they just know his name, but could careless about the character.

I think he is unappreciated, I feel at times that I'm the lone torch carrier for Supes.

16. LOVE IT!OUR STAR BLAZERS!
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 01:06 PM by amyrose2712
We're off to outer space
We're leaving Mother Earth
To save the human race
Our Star Blazers

Searching for a distant star
Heading off to Iscandar
Leaving all we love behind
Who knows what danger we'll find?

We must be strong and brave
Our home we've got to save
If we don't in just one year
Mother Earth will disappear

Fighting with the Gamilons
We won't stop until we've won
Then we'll return and when we arrive
The Earth will survive
With our Star Blazers

Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 01:33 PM by RandomThoughts
Season two theme is a bit different

We're off to outer space
We're leaving mother Earth
To save the human race
Our Star Blazers

A cry for help, a desperate plight
Makes our Star Force reunite
As we rush to meet our fate
The Comet Empire awaits

We must be strong and brave
To stop its evil ways
If Zordar's plot should work
He'll destroy the universe

We'll fight the Comet Empire
Battle through the raining fire
Filled with the hope that Earth will survive
We'll keep peace alive with
Our Star Blazers

They have a live action film coming out also

Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 02:00 PM by Urban Prairie
I worked @ the Michigan Central RR Depot in Detroit during the 70s, and there was no building A/C except for small window units enjoyed by the management in their offices only. I remember that some summer days were so miserably hot and humid in our office, that the paperwork that I was writing on would stick to my (short-sleeved dress shirt) arm when I lifted it to answer or make a phone call.

Not to mention Gene writing Hello Mary Lou and He's a Rebel...

Also, I had the great privilege of having met ( and had a brief conversation with) Del Shannon. Super nice guy, and this was at the stage of his career ( and less than a year before he tragically took his own life) where he could have coasted on his reputation, and just gone through the motions, but instead went all out onstage and gave a great high energy performance and seemed like he was thoroughly enjoying himself.
