34. I always misspell the title.
I can never remember how it's SUPPOSED to be misspelled, and wind up misspelling it incorrectly every time.

4. Hated that movie. Worst piece of boring, pretentious crap I've seen in YEARS.
About 45 seconds worth of "action", surrounded by
an hour and a half of PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT NOTHING!

That movie sucked. It stank, it reeked.
It was complete and utter DREK.
Completely UN...FUCKING...WATCHABLE.

I will never again pay money to see a "Tarentino Film",
until the blessed day comes when they film Mr. Tarentino
being beaten for 90 minutes with bicycle chains.

I'll pay $1.00 to watch that when it comes to RedBox.

31. No, "the Return of the King" is in the short stack of DVD's I watch most often...
It's excellent 'backround noise' for those times when I'm reading,
or painting, or just spending some "quality time" with
a particularly SQUALID piece of pornography.

I run it from beginning to end about 5 times a week.

33. I guess that's one use for it.
I know I've rarely been as sleepy as I was after about the 96th hour of that thing.

Inglourious Basterds, on the other hand, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Wish more people knew how to make movies like that. It's good to see someone actually use characters and dialogue to create a scene that sounds like more than a bunch of one liners from a mid-grade comedy routine or a fight outside the junior high dance.

35. right there with ya..it was the conceit of Tarentino that was most annoying
inserting his signature Tarentino crap was way out of place. Plus I'm surprised no one mentioned Brad Pitts dental appliance and over the top cartoon performance.

6. My dear demtenjeep!
I loved it!

I laughed, I was scared, I was on the edge of my seat!

Fantastic bit of movie-making!

The German guy sure earned his Oscar...

He made that movie! You have to have a great villain to have a great movie, and he did it.

10. He sure was, and that was a big part of what made the movie work.
You need a great villain!

I heard that Tarantino wouldn't have made the movie if he couldn't cast that part perfectly.

14. Col. Landa might be my favourite movie character ever...
He's just so brilliantly written and so brilliantly acted - I'm not surprised that people were calling Christoph Waltz as the Oscar winner as soon as they saw the movie, even though he's a complete unknown in North America.

Tarantino knows how to please a crowd. From "The Bear Jew" to "Hugo Stiglitz" to "Say "auf wiedersehn" To Your Nazi balls" to virtually every scene with Brad Pitt to the whole ending.

17. A different kind of Tarentino film...
the 'Nazi' was the centerpiece. He outfoxed all the other characters up to the last bit of 'carving.'

Good film and well done.

20. That opening scene was amazing, from the dialogue to the acting to the camera work.
Had me on edge the whole time, especially the way it resolved, with Colonel Landa never raising his voice or making a single threat. Amazing dialogue, and technique. Tarentino has become a fine artist with the camera.

The story lost its focus by the end, though, I thought. I lost my connection to the characters--when a director has so little regard for them, it's hard for the audience to maintain it--and the story just got random, almost improvised. I liked it just to watch the poetry of Tarentino's directing, but the story went nowhere, for me.

23. Thought the labels here were wrong
Brad Pitt seemed to be the supporting sctor, not the lead. Got the billing because of his name. Whereas Mr. Waltz seemed to be a lead character, but was billed as the supporting actor.

Then again, if Waltz had been nominated as the lead actor, then how would the Oscar race have turned out? Would Jeff Bridges have still won? Or would there be a tie?

Both Pitt and Waltz were supporting.

29. She was clearly the protagonist, but not on screen enough to be the "main character"
On the other hand, I don't see the Academy giving a lead actor Oscar for a nazi villain.

26. It was like watching a really interesting person masturbate.
Which is almost like saying "It was a Tarantino movie," except Tarantino also made Deathproof, which is more like several uninteresting people masturbating well.

32. I could take it or leave it
At least all the nationalities spoke the languages they should have, and although the Hitler
character didn't much resemble Hitler, he got the accent down.

But Christoph Waltz was absolutely brilliant as the diabolical conniving educated evil Nazi,
and stole the show. Without him, I think the movie would have flopped badly.
