Help! I'm stuck in Mobile Alabama
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGUy2ajGu9A

I start work tomorrow on the Dredge Columbia, but until I get to the crew boat tomorrow AM, I'm stuck inside of Mobile.....and I had to go to Wally World to get some supplies that I had forgotten (baking soda and AA batteries).

My new office for the next 26 days

2. What do you do?
.
How's the food on those things?
.
Are there onboard diversions?
.
Do you have TIME for diversions?
.
Friend of mine worked construction on oil rigs. Would go away
for a month or three and workworkworkworkworkworkwork and make
a TON of money and then come home and rest for a month or two.
.
Less he was unlucky enough to pull back-to-back gigs.
.

3. Marine Endangered Species Observer
monitor their activities and the hydraulic dredge to make sure they dont suck up any sea turtle or other endangered species.

There is TONS of free time to just sit and watch the water. This dredge is kinda small for a dredge, the house doesnt have a lot of distractions. I've got books and ipod ready for the nightshift.

5. That sounds WONDERFUL to me in my stressed out cubicle job.
.
Made me think of Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson when Jack is
trying pot for the very first time.
.
Fonda: ...{Pot} gives you a whole new way of looking at the day.
Nicholson: Well, I sure could use that! Yes, I sure could use a little of that!

.
I could sure use TONS of free time and books and the ability to just sit and
look at the water.
.
Been too long since I've done that.
.
Put it in THAT perspective and enjoy your gig!!
.

4. I was on a ship that spent six months
at Bender Shipyard there. I wouldn't let them fix my bicycle. Mardi Gras there was tons of fun, though. Not a bad little city.

6. Tow hours west and you're in New Orleans!
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 08:56 PM by nolabear
Six hours esst and you're home again...New Orleans is like that. Jazz Fest is happening soon. The weather is wonderful as a rule. Eat tons of seafood and go to the boats (casinos) in Biloxi. You can actually have a pretty good time!

Edited cuz I can't tell east from west.
