OMG. All is lost. I found a library book in the freezer.
It is due tomorrow. I was looking everywhere for that book, and I had given up, thinking I would have to pay for it. I found it there while looking for something else. Duh - who expects to find a book in the freezer?

This must be the ultimate senior moment. And I am only 61.

1. One must ask. How did it get there?

2. Didn't Joey keep a copy of "Little Women" in the freeze on "Friends?"

8. You're such a geek.
And it was a copy of "The Shining" that he kept in the freezer--cause it scared him.

16. Yeah, I think he put it in the fridge because he didn't want one of the characters to die.

36. not everything - he referred to the book's ending (which was different than the movie)
but also several things that were movie only, like the creepy twin girls and "all work and no play..."

Somebody pointed that out on a huge "Shining - Book vs. Movie" flamewar I once read, and it stuck with me for some reason.

25. "Little Women" went in the freezer later in the episode...
...because Joey was starting to get a bad feeling about the sick girl.

6. That's a common method of saving water-damaged books
http://lifehacker.com/5488295/save-water+damaged-books-docs-and-photos-by-putting-them-in-the-freezer">Save Water-Damaged Books, Docs, and Photos by Putting Them in the Freezer

Ever drop a book in the tub? Don't despair, you can save it. Put it into a plastic bag (not vacuum seal) and place in the freezer. The dehydration process, which keeps things cold, will pull the excess water out of the book. Takes up to 2 weeks depending on the size of the book. Just tell your friend that you aren't done with it yet.

31. We're actually trying that tonight. Have several books that were apparently left outside
all winter in what was not a water-tight container.

Will let you know how it turns out! :)

9. Ah, the simple pleasure of curling up before the fireplace with a good frozen book.
I'm going to put "Great Expectations" on ice right now, so it'll be good and frosty tonight.

Thanks for the tip, murielm99! :toast: :)

15. OK, this is too funny.
I am notoriously ditzy and that has only been exacerbated these last two years b/c I've been under extreme stress; when I can't find things, I check the fridge.

I stand by you proudly, as someone who has put keys, wallet, boxes of kleenex, etc. in the fridge :D Solidarity!

"Alive" would have been a good choice, though.

37. I was only a teenager when I found a washcloth in the freezer--
thought about it a bit, and then fished a packet of frozen broccoli out of the hamper. (Perhaps there is a box of ice cream bars on a bookshelf?) It can happen to anyone when distracted/multi-tasking.
