Attention DU Techno Dweebs!!!
Two years ago my kid's Xbox ate my Fallout 3 disk about midway through the game story line, and mostly through the map. Yesterday I purchased Fallout 3 for pc and of course it won't load it.

I get a message that I'm probably running an emulation program like Alcohol 120%, or Daemon Tools and I need to disable them temporarily in order to load Fallout 3. I have never hear of either programs, and don't remember ever using a emulation tool.

The program that is screwing things up is called Securon. Can anybody out there give me some advise?

no lack of love here.... just a lack of technical expertise that would probably embarrass a 5 year old.

3. Go to Add And Remove Programs (in the Control Panel)
Give it a few minutes to examine the installed program base on your computer. If you then see the programs listed simply select and uninstall them.

4. I have none of those programs on my computer.

I have searched high and low. I have edited my .exe launcher, created error report logs and compressed the reports which I e-mailed to Securom, which e-mailed my back fixes that don't work. Since software can not be returned I really want to figure out how to run this game.

I will never buy another Bethesda Game, or any game that uses Securom. This program guards against a non-authentic disks, or pirated downloaded game copies. It also gets triggered by who knows what on a computer. Doing a little research I found out that it hides it's self like a virus or malware, reinstalling it's self if you don't get every little bit.

That is just fucked up in general, and really fucked up since it commonly guards against legitimate copies of games as well. So far it has been a waste of about 10 hours, and fifty bucks spent on a game that won't acknowledge it's own authenticity.

FUCKETY FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!

5. And now you know ...

... why there are many of us out here who refer to software like this as "defective by design."

All it really does is cause hassles for those who purchase legitimate copies. You could download a working pirated version with about 30 minutes of searching, 5 if you know where to look.

If you could post everything that's running in your task list, we might be able to figure out what program is pretending to be an emulator. You may have one running and not realize it.
