Is there anything different about it besides it's size? :shrug:

1. haven't really paid a lot of attention, but

it seems more like an iTouch, as you can't make phone calls on it, afaik.

3. ah. like I said, haven't paid a lot of attention

can't afford an iAnything, much less the phone plans that go along with several of them, so...I'm not up on all the capabilities.

5. Except it would be easier to use if you wanted to rent movies or read books

I was a 'click' away from buying one and realized that I have no clue why I needed it other than say "oo look at me I have an Ipad".

I then read about the HP Slate (similiar to an Ipad) and it comes with a USB port & card reader, something I would want with a gizmo like that. I like watching movies on my computer when I travel or ready for bed but an Ipad wouldn't let me use my own DVDs. And I would like to move photos on and off my Ipad - which needs either a USB or card reader of some sort.

SO if I do get one of these gizmos it would probably be the Slate. I have an Iphone.

6. Yeah, That's What I Figured

Nice big screen for movies etc., but honestly, a laptop is better, because as you point out, you can watch your own DVD's on it, among other things.
