I quit on Jan 25. Best decision I've ever made. :hi:

2. My dear Tobin!
Congratulations, sweetie!

I am so very proud of you!

You did something very difficult, and so damn good.

That's a terrific website too...

It really shows so clearly how much good you've done for yourself, and all those who love you!

3. Neat website
Congratulations. That's a major accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself. I quit 9 years ago and feel so much better. Wish I could figure out where all that money I've saved was though. :P

4. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
.
I couldn't IMAGINE smoking now with the cost of cigarettes.
.
I was up to 3 packs a day when I quit in 1997 -- cold turkey.
.
Although I had stopped buying cigarettes by the carton (you
could still afford that -- I think they were about $24) in 1995
so that I could quit on any day I wished because I would not
have a carton to go through.
.
STILL took me two years of buying by the relatively MUCH more
expensive pack before my mindset was strong and ready.
.
Then... and only then... it was a breeze.
.
What worked for you as far as quitting?
.

5. I quit cold turkey, too.
The main thing that helped me, and this is going to sound bad, is that I just let myself go as far as eating went. I didn't deny myself anything as far as food went and I put on 50 pounds to show for it. I did have in my mind that once I was secure in being a non-smoker that I'd take the weight off- and I did. Got up to about 295, too. Now I'm weighing in at 215 which is comfortable for me.

The main thing I tell people who to quit is that they should not be afraid to put on a little weight. Maybe not 50 pounds like I did, but you get the idea.

6. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!
I can still remember when you quit.
Are you having any cravings or are they gone?
Are you having that bad dream that you start again like many of us do (I still have it after 35 years.)

8. The cravings are gone now but they lasted longer than I thought they would

Yeah, I still have the smoking dream and I wake up in a state of misery and self-loathing until I realize it was just a dream. Incidentally, I also used to drink a lot and I have dreams about that, too, since I've quit. It's been about 1.5 years for that. I also used to use drugs when I was a teenager and in my early twenties, and even though I haven't touched the stuff in 14 years I still have dreams about using and then getting called for a random drug test at work. I'm a trucker, they do stuff like that at trucking companies.
