1. My dear orleans!
Go for it!

You do NOT have a ghost!

It might be a short circuit or something...

My ex was physic sensitive and every once in a while his face would light up and he would tell me about a little girl he just saw running to the other room. This house is over a 100 years old and it would really creep me out when he would do that. My hairs are standing on end as I write this.

If ghosts are real, please don't ever let me see one, I don't think I could handle it.

5. Unplug it.
And if it *then* turns on by itself again, go get your .357 magnum, aim center mass and shoot it. That should fix the problem.

6. Check the back of it for the good/evil switch and make sure it's set to good.
Those switches are such a pain. }(

7. They do that sometimes. On "Ghost Hunters" it almost always had to do with
a remote that was stuck on "on/off" or a timer that had inadvertantly been set. There were a few other reasons, but I can't remember them now. But none of them involved ghosts, if that makes you feel any better. :)

9. I used to come home from work sometimes and find my tv on when I knew
I had turned it off before I left the house. It really creeped me out to hear voices in the house when I unlocked the door. I finally discovered that my cat was laying on the remote if I left it on the couch when I went out. Mystery solved!

10. Some cats just like to see hoomans freak out
Especially since they lost their status of gods after the ancient Egyptian times.

11. We had a microwave oven that started doing that.
Sort of like a Toyota, I guess, maybe some glitch in the control circuitry.

Does a microwave oven really need a computer in it? (Gotta have that "Popcorn" button!)

I disassembled it, kept some of the parts for my mad scientist lab, and sent the rest of the beast to be recycled before it had a chance to burn our house down.

17. Even your tv knows how bad tv is these days.
I'd go with it's instincts.

It's probably just turned off by all the crap that passes for programming.

Get it?

18. KJ has the best answer yet!!!
Seriously, ours does it all the time. With the satelite dish, I think they are just doing a check everyday. Then the brain of it has a little fart* or something and then when it comes back on, it goes back to the average channel, not nec. the one it was on previously. I know, annoying!

22. Moisture?
I had one that would do that from time to time and I finally figured out I had a tiny leak in the roof that was dripping just a little into the vents on the back of the tv, just enough to make it shut itself down sometimes.
