36. I noticed that Gene Wilder was featured in the previews for next week.
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 09:30 PM by MilesColtrane
I heard a remix of "Wondrous Boat Ride" from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in next week's preview.

Lyrics:

Round the world and home again
That's the sailor's way
Faster faster, faster faster

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

Are the writers signaling an "it was all a dream" ending?

42. You mean Frank Lapidus? I think he was just being Sun's chaperone this ep.
Cast this big, someone's talent is bound to be wasted. That's why we've had now five straight weeks of Sawyer sitting around and asking SmokeLocke "What the hell are we sitting around and waiting for?"

The cast is just too big. I hope they kill off a few more people next week.

The sideways universe is getting tiresome.

41. The big news from this week's ep: 1- the whispers are dead people lured by Jacob to the island.
2- the wicked dead are condemned to wander the island as ghosts. (I wonder why Richard's wife is there, she wasn't a bad person)

3- Miles has thrown in with Ben. I never saw that coming, unless he's still after his 3.2 million dollars.

4- Ilana was kind of a boring character. Good riddance. But, shit, they totally red shirted her.

5- Michael was told "You can go now" by the ghost of Christian Shepherd. But of course all along Smokey was using Christian as his sock puppet. By extension, Vincent the dog is ipso facto proved to be at the heart of the worst evils on the island--luring Shannon to her death, trying to get Charlie to go back to using drugs again, driving a wedge between Michael and Walt. When it turns out that Rose and Bernard are the Adam & Eve skels in the cave, what do you want to be they were killed by Vincent?

6- The more I think about it, the bigger an asshole Jacob turns out to be. I don't care if he's the guardian angel that God set up to keep Adam and Eve out of Eden, aka "the island". He's an asshole angel. All those dead people on the island condemned to eternal wandering torment because Jacob felt like luring them in. So the core story of Lost isn't good vs evil; it's asshole vs. evil.

7- That mystery kid on the island is getting older. Is Jacob regenerating himself? If so, then that whole "six candidates" thing was a crock of shit, just more Jacob trying to keep people on the island so he can fuck with them.

Alternate theory: Carlton Cuse is the last candidate.

Jack will operate on Locke, Juliet will work on Sun and Save the Baby, Sawyer and Miles will handle the GSW and the hit and run which allows Sawyer and Juliette to meet,

Claire will go into labor and end up in the ER and Kate will be with her, not sure how Sayeed, Desmond, Penny, Ben, Hurley and Libby get to the ER but it is a start anyway.

54. I don't know, man
As these episodes go on the writing is just becoming a bit too tidy and convenient. Too easy.

Characters that were once independent and struggled with decisions are now just kind of going along with things. And the coincidences are just getting a bit much.

Really enjoyed the beginning of this season. I've been less and less impressed as it goes on.

57. How they got rid of one character tonight seemed pretty slap dash to me too
Ilana, who was so thoughtful and seemed like such a redemptive character to Ben was killed off in a very out-of-character way. She's Jacob's secret operative, but she's just tossing that dynamite around like it's a volleyball. It seemed like a cheat. When they killed Ceasar and then Bram earlier this season, there was some shock value involved. At this point, though, killing Ilana just seemed like them going through a scratch off list of new characters from Season Five who were set up as red shirts from the start.

Her character deserved a better send off.

69. I literally turned around and missed that.
I turned my back on the TV and heard an explosion, then turned around, and just saw a fireball, and then it cut to commercial. It wasn't until it came back and I heard them talking about Ilana exploding that I understood what happened.

92. I think that whole scene was deliberate.
It was her time to die. She knew how volatile the dynamite was, and the camera showed how badly she was handling it. The island took her at her time, whatever that means!!!!

59. I've noticed that the writers have started blowing stuff past us.
NotLocke could have gutted Desmond like a fish, or he could have turned into smoke and torn him limb from limb, but he THROWS HIM DOWN A WELL?

Just like the last episode in which there was no explanation for Eloise remembering the island, there probably won't be any reason forthcoming for this stupid plot device.

67. Patience, grasshopper
Lordamighty, so many LOST fans get itchy britches and start bitchin' worse than folks complaining that Obama's not swinging the nation far left overnight. I always say that these TV shows are a RIDE. You don't get to steer.

Eloise is outside of time/all this, so she's going to remember everything. She's not like the pawns/candidates.

If Desmond reappears next ep (I watched the ep on Hulu and so didn't see next week's promo), then there's a reason NotLocke dumped him down the well (not NotLocke's reason--a reason to further the plot).

Yes, the writers are going to stuff each ep with information, because the fans demand it, and there are only So Many Eps Left. So yes, it's going to feel like things are blowing past quickly. Ya gotsta keep up.

Now keep yer wig on and do not try to exit the ride until it has come to a compete stop.

71. Maybe SmokeLocke didn't want to kill Desmond.
Maybe he just wanted him at the bottom of that well.

I don't think he has the power to, and knows it.

85. My theory... NotLocke cannot kill Desmond just as MIB could not kill Jacob.
NotLocke is MIB... and I believe that Desmond is now in the "Jacob" role.

I do like Hurley, and have certainly enjoyed watching his character growth and story arc. I hope that he and Libby have a happily-ever-after when it's all said and done.

...what about Boone? Does he qualify as a "hunky guy"? I dunno.

Okay, Charlie once played a hobbit, but he did have that Rock n' Roll vibe to him.

And Sayid died, but then miraclously came back thanks to the dirty brown water.

Plus I'm sure there's a contingent out there for Locke/Terry O'Quinn, who has a certain dignified ruggedness to himself, although did Locke technically "die off"?

Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 12:49 PM by redqueen
stopped being attractive.

Also, Eko got killed off and so did Faraday (ok so he's not hunky, but I think he's cute so I'm including him).

89. Well, Claire Was Killed Off For A Season
And Sun was shot in the gut in the Flash sideways, so she may die in one respect.

As for Kate, I suspect that she just wants all of the guys for herself.

82. What if this is another St. Elsewhere, and all these people
(or at least their adventures) are in Hurley's head?

They wouldn't do that to us, would they?

The producer's have ruled out two concepts from the beginning-- that it's a dream, and that it's a "snow-globe" reality.
