1. I knew a guy (sax player) who did a tour with the Welk band in the early 80's.

I've never seen anyone, before or since, who could drink Jack Daniels like it was mother's milk as he could after he got off that road gig.

2. I wonder if those two Iowa people or Lawrence Welk were
ever told what they were actually singing about. Ever since someone posted that damned video on facbook a couple days ago, that song has been popping into my head whenever I partake of "modern" communion, lol. I'm not at all surprised to learn that those people drank Jack Daniels. You'd have to be drinking SOMETHING to have been that clueless!

3. Please tell me it wasn't Jim S. ... or better yet, please tell me it WAS

OOPS-guess I'm half asleep; early to mid 80's was when I played with him... Too bad; that would've been a great story... ( still pretty damn funny whoever it was, but hey, a gig's a gig).

4. Not Jim.

But like Jim, he was also a great player.

...a guy I met in Denton, TX when I played in a Ornette-meets-James Brown kind of band called the Nuclear Hamsters.
