Who's going to buy "Avatar" on Thursday?
I won't be.

AND I already got an offer for a download of the movie.
Nope. Download offers off Russian web sites are loaded with malware and viruses.

1. I'm not sure..
My mom and brother saw it Friday night, and said it was great and worth buying.

Netflix won't have it available till May. Don't know if I should wait or buy it.

Maybe some people that have seen it will give their opinions.

2. Avatar *without* the 3D effects?
Doesn't that pretty much just leave you with the story?

3. I saw the second half and found that I was right...superb FX and little actual heart.
All of the "heart" elements were there, but the actual heart was not. "Local Hero" can make me cry. Avatar didn't come close.

4. Wait for the november release
the version coming out on thursday, is the barebones release. The version coming out in November will have all the bells and whistles. However I heard the 3D version won't be out for another year or two.

5. Nope, I may "rent" it through Netflix at some point, but it's not a keeper
I will however, absolutely, positively, buy "How To Train Your Dragon", it's flying truly shows what a flying movie should be, and it has a real story too.
