CURLING: As those peolpe sweep that giant rock down the lane I would add a defensive lineman they have to crash thru to get to their goal.

1. Full contact golf - haven't worked out the details
but it would be something like:
each golfer gets three persons on their team that can be deployed to attack any other golfer who is about to take a shot. At the same time these helpers could be deployed to stop attacks while their golfer swings.

Although it is actually not destroying but protecting against destroyers that use the golf metaphor for some actions that are not the best, since that word has many negative connotations. Since your game would probably have Hockey players on the other side. That makes some sense.

The Happy part gives that away.

2. NASCAR. Make the "S" actually mean something again.
National Association of STOCK Car Automobile Racing.

There is NOTHING "stock" about todays Sprint cup cars.

NASCAR should allow the Corvette, the Mustang and the Dodge Charger to run. They should be showroom versions modified with a roll cage and a fire suppression system.

In other words, go back to the way things used to be (although they never let the Vette or Mustang run) and NASCAR could revolutionize the American Auto industry overnight.

17. NHL... make the regular season into figure skating, then draw the 16 playoff teams
out of a hat.

Ireland being cheated out of the World Cup by Thierry Henry's double handball convinced me. Add a fifth replay official and a 30 second time limit for review.

Any shot that goes in from beyond midcourt is worth five points. Fouling someone in the act of shooting beyond midcourt does not constitute automatic free throws.

Provide a committee comprised of owner appointed representatives, former referees, former players and coaches, and permit players to contest particularly egregious calls. This committee would then review the call and penalize the referee if necessary. Some kind of action is necessary to ensure some form of accountability to referees, who all too often give the call to the big star, or the veteran, or the home crowd favorite.

Oh, that's two ways. Sorry.

15. Football...
Get rid of the 5 yard contact rule. Let 'em play like they used to.

I wanted the OT rules changed in football, to the way it's done for college football. They sorta changed it; modified sudden death.

Pet Peeve with Baseball: Intentional walks!!! I hate that. But I don't see a way to change it.

24. Baseball needs instant replay.
The Twins got screwed a few times this season by the umps. Take yesterday for example. Denard Span was charged with an error because the umpire thought he dropped the ball. But he clearly caught it, took two or three steps, and attempted to move the ball from his glove to his hand, and the ball fell to the ground. He was charged an error. He got screwed.

31. NFL: change to 12 minute quarters.
It will reduce the wear and tear on the athletes, meaning better on-field performance and longer careers.

It will make games less than two and a half hours long.

It will make 300-yard passing games mean something, along with making 1000 yards rushing for a season more meaningful.

And let's face it: more than 25% of any given game is kind of boring, anyway.
