8. This poem made me think of hamsters and gerbils -- really.
There's a syndrome with small rodents called 'cage paralysis.' In essence, if the animal is confined in too small an enclosure they lose mobility especially in the hind quarter and start dragging themselves around. The cure? A bigger cage.

Uh, OK... Whatever floats your boat! That's the cool thing about poetry: It's open to many interpretations. I guess we all live in some sort of cage, don't we?
