OMG! It's spring! (photo heavy)
I took these pictures earlier today, in the area of Stavern, Vestfold in Norway. Spring time up north :D

Note how the green and white laces the roadside, like a ripple through the landscape. How dreary the winter worn trees are looking in contrast. Green beats grey!

It's like reversed pollution - instead of poision, it's life itself that seeps through the ground, setting off the spark of new spring. The trees are like 'OMG! Where did I put the photo-syntheisis manual?'

It doesn't stop, it's everywhere, kicking off the new season.

The next clearing in the woods is more beautiful than the last, it goes on and on. Walk me, use me, please gorge this scenery. It never stops.

Old Grumphy flexes his muscle and says 'One more season, I still look like a plane crash and YOU still won't bend this arm, flimsies.' And he's right. Nobody bends that arm.

'Wake up, wake up, spring is upon us' The call goes out as the trees are engulfed by green-white.

Over the hills and far away, there's no stopping once started.

In mid summer this road is turned into a tunnel of green. I swear, if nature was left to it's own, it would use no more than two years to reclaim this road. Actually, it's doing it's best every year :D

Every crack, every bowl, every spot available, is filled with mayflower green-white.

Thanks for watching my mayflowers. I hope you have some spring in your life too.
Regards, the mayflower man ;-)

5. Beautiful
I can imagine fairies romping with joy through the meadow. They are happy to come out of their tree homes and greet the spring.
(Is mayflower the name of the ground cover with the white flowers?)

I hope I (accidentallty) hit the correct name for the flower, I'm not sure about the English name. In Norwegian it's called hvitveis :-)

13. Mogster - you live in Norway? I spent the most beautiful weeks of my life in your country!
Edited on Mon May-03-10 05:14 AM by tango-tee
We drove up in an RV from Germany through Denmark and Sweden, and then took a turn into Norway at the Arctic Circle, ready to head back South.

I had never, ever before in my life seen such beautiful scenery. The pure majesty of nature. There were times I had to stand still and listen to the silence around me, to soak up the peace and sheer beauty. It was almost as though I was part of creation in process. Words cannot describe what I felt.

Dear friend, cherish your country. It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

By the way, I still have some of these pretty white flowers I brought back from Norway; they are pressed between pages in my books. And some of the berries - I can't remember their name? They grow in the bogs among these old, wonderful trees.

How I wish I could visit your beautiful country again.

Thanks for those generous words, and thanks for sharing.
It can be beautiful sometimes. And has a lot of weather too :D
Is it those flowers shown in the photo's you have? I've checked the name of this flower, the latin name is Anemone Nemorosa.

15. Maybe it is simply for the tourists, but at the Arctic Circle
Edited on Mon May-03-10 06:51 AM by tango-tee
there are these piles of small rocks, and when you add your own rock to the pile, it means you will return some day.

I put my own rock on top of one of the piles, and without a doubt some day I will return to your beautiful coúntry.

Here is another story. There was this small creek we followed in Northern Norway. It was a tiny spring of clear, cold water which turned into a small, joyous little stream, just bubbling along over the rocks. A little while later, it turned into a wider, shallow, peaceful river. It made its way through a few small villages, and we followed it until it finally found its way into a fjord.

To me, this was wonderful. Being able to accompany this humble little stream from its birth as a bubbling creek, through its days of maturity, and then watching it find its destination in the fjord.

I will return to Norway, without a doubt.

I have never seen a country more beautiful than yours.

29. I have iris in bloom, my roses are blooming and clematis is budding
Edited on Wed May-05-10 05:34 PM by tigereye
the Asian lilies have buds. The tulips and other spring flowers are long gone.

Nothing has ever bloomed or budded this early - my wisteria is just about done! It's really bizarre. It's like April was May and May is June. It's lovely but it's throwing me off just a bit. Even all my forms of echinahea are about ready to bloom.

 I guess it's like living in a more southerly gardening zone!
