1. Me.
:D

I couldn't resist. Sorry. Here's my nominee, one of the best writers you probably never heard of: Cyril Kornbluth. He wrote short science fiction stories, and you can probably find a collection of all of them in a single volume in your public library; I did. He outshone Ray Bradbury in my view; an outstanding capacity for irony. A real pity he wrote so little.

Godzilla or Jupiter or the Solar System, but I just heard about it for the first time. Why don't we get regular updates about it on the nightly news? It's, like, a conspiracy of silence

Too many bands/artists get really sucky when they get too popular.

32. That is them.
And yep, they're up there in age. They started way back in '81. I think all three members are between 48 and 56 years old. And their last CD kicked everyone's ass anyways! The Cd Wrong (with It's Catching Up) is one of only 7 albums I would give a perfect 10 to (Nomeansno has four of them, Wrong, 0+2=1, All Roads Lead To Ausfahrt (the newest) and the collaboration they did with Jello Biafra).

Their side project The Hanson Brothers is a lot of fun, too. All the songs are Ramones style punk, only about beer and hockey. :)

39. LOL
Nothing I listen to seems to be other people's cup 'o' tea. If you don't dig them I wouldn't be offended (I doubt they would be either lol). :)

I will say this though...they do a song called Hunt The She Beast, and it was that song that illustrated to me how differently I saw woman compared to how my friends at the time saw woman. My friends all took this song's lyrics literally as if it was about hunting a bear, but I thought they missed where the song was really going. I see this as a pro-woman song, one of the few I took that way back then. And looking back on it I still feel it's one of the more honest attempts by a guy to deal with the issue of women, in it's own strange way. To me the last verse makes it clear, if it wasn't already, what the song is really about.

Laugh you asshole and try to be brave
My God, what a strange shape
Drooling jaws are my dream's landscape
I am so tough and so afraid
Give it up, get it up, give it up, get it up
With spear, sword and blade
With spear, sword and blade

Hunt the She Beast
Mama bear is there, beware
Hunt the She Beast

We got together because it was so fucking cold
And we knew the answer wasn't in the stars
Or in the soil
It was in blood!
In a bloody run down to the sea,
in a bloody run down to the sea, in a run down to the sun and the sea

Hunt the She Beast
She bear, she bears the furies
Hunt the She Beast

Now I own everything and I have all the answers
Kingdom come like my father before and my son after
It's power that has brought me here
Brains and power and the fear
The fear you've got to control
You've got to keep the women down below
Cause there was something here before
The fear you've got to control
There is something down in that hole

Hunt the She Beast

And now there's nothing left to kill
You've bent the whole world to your will
When you reach out your mighty hand
There's nothing left but barren sand
You run and run and run
But you've forgotten what you're running from
You're flying into emptiness
And all that's left for you is death
Now we don't need no prophets of doom
We need prophets of the womb
Deny your cruel mythology
Your fear inspired symbology
The circling arms of mother night
Will cradle your small fire light
From now on when I look to see
She - what do I see?
From now on when I hunt to see
She - what do I see?

A single....simple....human being.

Hunt the She Beast
She bear, she bears the future
Hunt the She Beast.

I'm probably reading way more into the song than is even there, but this song hit me in a different way, something many of their songs have done over the years. Their song Sex Is Philosophy is another one! They never tell you quite what they they think, but they put stuff out there and let you get from it what you will. And on the other hand, they're never serious, so who knows what the Hell they're thinking? I take it one way, but it's open to interpretation.

I love 'em! :)
