Did you ever see "The Dish"?

Adorable, clean, funny, family-friendly, and featuring Sam Neill. What's not to like?

He had so much FUN being the bad guy, you can tell!

Also, his fight scenes with Mark Darcy were hilarious.

"Last Place on Earth" played Apsely Cherry-Garrard.

He was also noteworthy in "Maurice".

34. I must have missed that one.
I need to find that one and watch it. BBC has all the good stuff.

For some strange reason, I have always been a great reader of all things related to polar expeditions.

After reading the short historical story, "White Lantern" by Evan S. Connell, in which he wrote about the Scott Expedition, (among other stories) I read "The Worst Journey in the World", by Cherry-Garrard.

Great read.

37. It was on Masterpiece Theater
about 1986. I'm sort of a self-learned scholar of polar exploration. Ask me anything on the subject, I'll attempt to give a good answer.

19. other. E. M. Forster's "Maurice", one of his first rolls if not his first.
Edited on Sat May-29-10 05:01 PM by jonnyblitz
If I wasn't lazy i would "google" to determine if it WAS his first role.

on edit: yes it was his first role and it was from 1987. it was a merchant ivory film .

26. watched "Mickey Blue Eyes" a couple weeks ago
And maybe I was just in the right mood for it, but I laughed more than I remember laughing at a movie in quite a while. It's ridiculous, of course, but that's kind of the point.

And despite him being the stupidest guy on earth for losing Elizabeth Hurley over that prostitute business, more often than not I enjoy his movies.

30. Love, Actually, for the PM speech alone.
I love Brit films that knock America down a peg. I was watching a Dr. Who episode the other day, where the American president had made demands on the British PM. The PM says "Tell the President he's not my boss, and we're not going to let them start a war."

32. I really wanted to like Love Actually.
But it was three or four mediocre movies plus two really good movies all mashed up into one god-awfully bad movie.

About A Boy was pretty good.

the one where he's... hmm. Slightly rumpled and cute?

I liked About a Boy b/c it was a bit of a departure for him.
