CNN: Boehner demands God apologize for not making little green apples, lack of rain in Indianapolis

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) is demanding that God apologize for not making little green apples, as well as for the lack of rain in Indianapolis in the summertime. Human Events' Connie Hair reports.

"Like millions of other Americans, I have always had a good impression of God and thought of him as a classy guy, but I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of grace and respect he displayed when I heard that song," Boehner said in a statement. "I hope he'll apologize to the American people for his conduct which demeaned him, Indianapolis, and apples. Little green apples."

The late singer O.C. smith had a hit with the song that raised Boehner's ire, "Little Green Apples." The lines in question are "God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summer time." When reminded by reporters that these were simply lyrics from a pop song and not an accurate depiction of what God did or did not do, Boehner replied with a terse "NO COMMENT" and left abruptly, claiming he was late for his daily session at the tanning salon.

No response yet from God or O.C. Smith.
