What do you miss most from 1993?
Bill Hicks (RIP)

Dinosaur-mania courtesy of Jurassic Park.

Loreana Bobbit jokes.

MIghty Morphin' Power Rangers (only watched it because I had a crush on the woman who played the pink ranger at the time. Yowza!)

The Super NES vs. SEGA Genesis console wars. (The only bigger debate amongst my junior high peers of the male persuasion at the time was Ford vs. Chevy.)

5. I miss a lot from 1993
(1) Having my mother and all but one of my grandparents alive and in relatively good health. Same for my uncle. All now are gone

(2) Having a Prime Minister in office who was essentially a left-wing radical when it came to social and foreign policy issues. He was also so visionary leader and the merits of some of his ideas that he was championing at the time are only beginning to be appreciated for what they are now (17 years on)

(3) In 1993 our major centre right opposition party hadn't become the racist, neo-conservative cesspool that it is now and it had a leader who actually cared about social justice, racial equality and a compassionate foreign policy. At the time he was considered a right wing zealot but now days he'd probably be considered on the centre left. It just shows you how horridly reactionary and backward the conservative parties have become over the past decade

(4) The idealism and optimism of the immediate post-Cold War era

(5) Sleepovers with my friends from high school

(6) Seinfeld

(7) Princess Diana

(8) John Candy

(9) D-Generation (you had to be in my country to understand). Sort of a version of Saturday Night Live at its funniest

(10) My dog. Still young, naughty and mischievous but a lot of fun

And so many other things

15. That was a really lousy year:
First bombing of World Trade Center
Waco
Somalia

I think the best thing was Clinton's inauguration and feeling hopeful after 12 years reagan/bush.

17. LOVED 1993. Graduated from college, got an apartment, found a job that paid a ton (for a single
girl with no expenses) and I was living it up in Minneapolis. While I love my life now, 1993-96 were awesome in a very special way.

I don't really remember 1993 much. It bleeds together with 1992 and 1994 for me.

So I can't really say. I bet The Simpsons were on Thursdays back then and that was always nice. Remember when The Simpsons was on Thursdays?!?
