Can you wake up without an alarm?

I never wear a watch

I don't own an alarm clock

I just tell myself the time I want to wake up in the morning

1. My dear HipChick...
I can do that. BUT, when I have a plane to catch, or have to be somewhere really early, I set my alarm.

And then, of course, I wake up before it has a chance to go off...

11. Exactly, Miss Peg. I do the same thing especially if I have to get up before dawn.
Otherwise my 4 alarms are Tinker and Shelta (the dogs) and Miles and Whisper (the cats). They never let me sleep after the sun comes up.

2. I have dogs that do that for me
they get up at 6 am every day.
I wake up anyway then, I think they learned it from me.

4. No. In fact I sleep through my alarm clock often.
Good thing I have a cat. She works harder than any alarm clock.

16. I was gonna say, I have two cats, who needs an alarm clock?
Not only do they start bothering me when my radio goes off in the morning (a impossible to ignore snooze alarm) but they start in on me often on the weekends at the same time I get up on the weekdays. D'oh! Waking up at 6am on a Saturday is not fun...

7. As far as waking up I don't need a clock. I have the good old dependable bladder alarm.
It has no snooze button and demands attention.

8. I can set my internal alarm
just by how much water I drink before going to sleep.

More details would likely lock the thread :)

If I just tell myself the time I want to wake up, I know I can't be serious, so I ignore me and sleep until the time that I really think I would have told myself to wake up if I told myself the truth.

9. I do wear a watch.
But I don't need an alarm clock. I do the same thing; just decide what time I want to wake up.

17. Always beat the alarm.
It is set for 6:20, I enter into this world each and every day at 6:15.
You can train your mind. Just tell myself when to awake.

18. I'm not sure if it counts..
..but when I'm in particularly good spirits for awhile, one of the signs of it is that I'll always wake up about five minutes before the alarm goes off, no matter when it's set. (I tested it once when I was in that mood by setting it for arbitrarily weird times.)

20. almost always. But I set it anyway...just in case.
And even if I do sleep almost until the alarm goes off...one minute before the alarm goes off it goes...click.

The alarm itself is one of those wake the dead mechanical bell hammers.

I hate it. But I hardly ever hear it.

25. 5 cats, 3 of whom take turns
and my cell phone. I refuse to plug in my radio alarm clock - I really don't need to know how long it takes me to get back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night. :P

26. My internal clock is quite accurate
Most of the time I end up waking up within 5-10 minutes of when my alarm is supposed to go off.
