Are you afraid of storms?
I love them, but I have a grandson who freaks out! When he was a kid It really concerned me to see him so upset.

4. cats are such scardy cats
but Mandu ( my tabby male) refused to come in during the storm last night . I had to go get him!

As soon as the storm is over all three of them want to go outdoors!

10. We had a blind kittie for ten years
And he loved being outside more than in even during bad storms. He knew every inch of our backyard and would run and hide under our cars or boat if we tried to get him before he wanted to come in.

14. i would feel pretty safe in nebraska. colorado too, even though they get them. NM, too.
last couple years has been pretty easy in this area. they have been above and below. this year, midnight alarm is off, we are all up. then back to bed, only for alarm to go off twice more. not fun to wake up to that.

i lived in calif. i will take an earthquake anytime

a funny, .... we left this area to vacation in florida, in spring and my thought was, at least getting away from tornados. we had one there. ha ha. lol

23. We lived in Nebraska for six years (Lincoln) and hit the basement one time
when the sirens were going off.

Another time, hubby and sons were returning from a "great adventure", during which they flew a small
plane (hubby was a gen'l aviation pilot)to places like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, etc for
a week/10 days in the summer and I was picking them up at the airport in Lincoln. Outside
the huge plate glass window in the gen'l aviation offices, we spotted 4 tornadoes in the distance!
None of them hit town, though, they were just out there on the prairie!

9. I miss them. Its the one thing I miss from living out on the plains
We get the rain, and I love that too. But never the punctuation that's supposedta go with it, just ever present rain as a norm.

Though I suppose the lack of snow makes it even. I wouldn't trade stupid snow mucking everything up for more frequent storms.

13. I like storms...
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 01:50 PM by tango-tee
...I sit here in my tiny apartment, feel protected, the cat is snuggled up next to me as the rain is coming down; we listen to thunder rumbling in the distance and watch the distant lightning.

There is only this pool of light next to the computer as I'm writing to my fellow DUers across the Atlantic. There is so much that is wrong with our world, so much misery, hatred and devastation... Still, when I feel safe in my own little world, even if it is only for a little while, all is well.

20. I wouldn't know, Jitterbug.
Cats have been my companions for so long that I have a hard time imagining life without them. You're a cat person, too, I can tell?

Mosche the Toothless Cat sits next to me as I'm typing this post, with one paw on my leg. At night, he is next to me in bed, with one paw on my arm. When it's time for me to wake up, he'll pat my eyes ever so gently. He's now 16 years old and I don't know what I'll do once he's gone.

15. Sometimes
We get some really wicked monsoon storms here on the desert in the summer.
High winds, heavy rain, lots of damage can occur in a very short time and with little warning.

16. I love storms. We love to watch them roll in across the fields.
Nighttime storms are least favorite, especially if tornado warnings are involved. We had an F4 just north of us a couple weeks ago. It was at night and several people lost their lives.

17. Terrified
Have been since I was a little kid. One of the cats hates them. The other only the bad ones. We had a bad one the other week- the one who hates them was growling in fear! ( she rarely growls or hisses) even the one who likes to watch them in the window ran and sat in the bedroom doorway! She was taking shelter like the weatherman said to do! Smart kitty:)

22. I LOVE thunderstorms. Will turn the lights out in the house to watch them at night.
Our beloved Tanya--who crossed the rainbow bridge two years ago--used to freak out at the sound of thunder. One time we found her hiding in the bathtub! How did she know that was where you're supposed to go? She was a Nebraska dog...

25. depends on the storm
i love colorado thunderstorms, but i am positively terrified of tornadoes or storms with really high winds. i'm close enough to the mountains that tornadoes are very rare, but they still scare me.

28. I've gotten better over the years but yes
Had a tornado hit my house when I was 4 and I swear I have PTSD from it. I tend to freak at severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. I should be a meteorologist these days as I smell the air, understand the cloud formations, read the radar and predict this shit better than the local weathermen. LOL

29. Depends on context. If I'm standing on a mountain peak or looking out a plane window
I view storms with a bit of apprehension. At home with candles, hot chocolate, cats, good book, and wife (not necessarily in that order) I think they're pretty awesome...
