so i'm shopping at the wal-mart i used to work at....
plenty of new faces, and i mean PLENTY. i didn't recognize any of the cashiers and non-supervisors. most of the supers and dh's i knew were long gone (it's been two years).

anyhoo, i'm in line to pay for some gardening stuff my dad wanted me to pick up for him and a little kid is tugging on my shirt. he proceeds to ask me if i'm still a ninja. after a second of thinking and seeing his mom, i remember him from when i work at that store for halloween, and the kid asked me what costume i was wearing (for the record, i was wearing my usual work clothes). i told him i was a ninja. and he said ninjas wear all black to hide... now mind you this kid's like 5 years old... so i told him where is the last place you would expect to find a tree you were looking for... he said with another tree. well, that was the whole point of my costume, to blend in.

anyhoo, it blew my mind he remembered me after 2 years... all from a 45-second exchange at the register.

dang kids these days are getting pretty smart....

1. Meeting a ninja at Wal-mart must have really impressed him
Did his mom recall your previous conversation, or wasn't she paying attention?

2. yes, actually she did.
which didn't freak me out nearly as much as the kid doing so...

according to mom, she's had to yell at the boy to stop stealing his older sister's naruto manga repeatedly.
