Off to a good start. Post your favorite song intros.
Some songs have great lyrics, some produce awesome melody lines, and some contain breathtaking solos. The intro sets the mood though, and Rory Gallagher had a knack for writing great ones. "A Million Miles Away" is suberb example of an intro that leaves no doubt where the song is going. Lets' hear some others that "set the mood".

4. Pearl Jam - "Alive"
Brilliant guitar work on that one. Also, Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" - a very soft piano sets the stage for an ethereally-beautiful song.
