A humble request for kitty vibes for my Evie
We had to take her to the vet hospital yesterday afternoon, after I noticed that she had jaundice. Her blood tests came back with indication of liver and perhaps pancreatic involvement, but she has no tumors, and the condition developed almost overnight.

She's a sturdy 9-year-old, 13lb kitty, but she's never been sick before. Vibes, please?

20. Thanks, everyone, for the vibes - Evie is better tonight
She's still in the hospital, but the doctor says her jaundice is already improving and she's resting comfortably. I hope she can come home in a couple of days, after her meds have fully kicked in.

Keep your fingers crossed, everyone, and thanks again for the positive thoughts.

25. Not a clue - idiopathic, she called it
:P Not that it helps us figure out whether she got into something, which is nigh-impossible since the apartment has been cat-proofed to the hilt, and we've been here a year and a half.

Thanks for your good wishes! :hi:

26. Evie UPDATE: She might come home tonight!
:bounce: The vets redid her echograph this morning, because they couldn't follow all her plumbing on Saturday, and this time they saw the whole thing and found no obstructions anywhere. She's responding well to her meds, and they'll call us tonight to advise whether we can pick her up or she needs to stay another night.

Keep those candles lit, friends, it's working! :loveya:

36. Went through that a couple of years ago with Chaucer.
He was a very sick cat for a few days--he vomited up anything and everything he ate. They supported him with IV fluids and some antibiotics (just to cover all the bases) and finally, he did get better. Same symptoms you described with your kitty--fairly sudden onset and jaundiced, with no evidence of stones, foreign objects, or exposure to any toxins that we knew of.

Chaucer is now on an EN prescription food, but beyond that he's thrived since then. The vet never did figure out why it happened or what exactly it was. Final DX was "Biliary Disease of unknown origin."

Vibes to you and your kitty. They really seem sick sometimes but they do seem to bounce back pretty quickly.
