So this is what 5:30pm is like
I worked third shift for the last 3.5 years. I'm moving on to something else and I'm getting switched back around to sleeping at night and being awake during the day. It feels much better. I had kind of gotten used to working nights. I got to the point where I could get through the night without taking a nap most of the time anyway. But I never did really feel good. It was like mild depression and being tired all the time.

1. My dear Tobin...
Yup, you sound like a day person, all right!

Most people are. I'm glad you feel a lot better...it's no fun going through life feeling tired all the time...

4. hey Tobin ... I agree, 'regular' hours can be really nice
I've had to stay up very late for work sometimes to meet deadlines - 4 or 5 a.m., and while one day I can do it, if I have to do that for several days in a row, even if I get 8 hours of sleep, I don't feel good at all. Circadian rhythms and all that.

5. I could never adjust to 3rd shift either. As I have gotten older
I have started on the idea, early to bed, early to rise.
I like it.
It started with envy of people who would ride 100 miles for breakfast, and several hundred more before lunch.
Get up early and so much can be accomplished in a day.
Human life, after 100,000 or more years of evolution, is based on the light of day. And that sunshine feels good and raises the spirit.
