PEARL JAM: "Last show in a looong time"
So there you have it. Pearl jam is done for a while. Glad i got to see them recapture the power of the band last summer. I have heard nothing but raves from this tour too, so this is kind of a shock...

"OK, so it looks like we can scratch that idea that we'd see another hometown show from Pearl Jam before their hung up the support for last year's Backspacer. According to NME, during Pearl Jam's set at Lisbon's Optimus Alive festival last night, Vedder told the audience, "Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time."

There are currently no dates on the band's web site, PearlJam.com. But if they really are done promoting Backspacer (released in November), that has got to be one the shortest -- if well-toured -- promotional pushes behind a new record of this caliber in a while. We've got a note in to PJ's camp to see if they have any further comment.

1. So, it's not Led Zeppelin so nobody cares eh?
Pearl jam one of the best acts on the planet and they are not going to be playing.. Shame that.

3. They are a great band and I'd rank them up there with Zep
Back in the early 90s I had "Ten" on continuous loop in my tape deck for a long time. It was like nothing I'd ever heard before and I knew times were changing in the rock world in a big way when I first heard them. I've never had the pleasure of seeing them live in person, but I've seen some live performances on TV and they were excellent.

4. Better than Led Zeppelin actually...
At leat they were never assholes who beat up people backstage or were always late or started riots like LZ was known for.

6. Probably a good time to take a break
Considering Matt Cameron is back with Soundgarden. Pearl Jam has had a few drummers, but he stuck around the longest. They probably don't want to replace him, unless they really have to. In the liner notes of the "Lost Dogs" compilation Vedder called Matt "the greatest drummer on the planet", so it's my guess they don't want to work without him.

7. Kinda bummed to hear that, but
if they need a break, they need a break. Plus, now Matt Cameron can tour with Soundgarden. :)
