3. Oh, me too.
Abuse of animals is one of the things I get militant about. I think people who are so desensitized or unempathetic as to injure a poor animal that can't understand why (and especially when that "why" is "No particular reason" or "Stupid person is bored") as to do such things are just really special psychopaths that need segregating from the the rest of us.

I'm not usually She-Hulking except when thinking about anyone who'd mistreat an animal (or a kid). But since I can't knock all their blocks off, the sight of suffering babies that I can't hug until it's better just makes me misty.

4. Oh yeah!!
That one gets me every time!! I donated the first time I saw it, and have been a monthly donor ever since. Can't hear that song without tearing up.

12. So did I.
But I clicked on the link anyway just to check my hunch.

I can't even HEAR that song anymore without tearing up and thinking of abused dogs and cats.

25. Me three
My wife has to leave the room whenever that comes on. Me, I tough it out. But damn if that isn't harsh.

10. I always have to change the channel when that commercial comes on.
My husband knows how it affects me so he automatically changes the channel, too. I'm not saying it shouldn't be on the air; I think it's a good incentive for people to help abused animals and adopt one (or two). We've adopted three, but I just can't watch that commercial.

11. I can't watch it, either.
If it comes on the TV, I beg my husband to change the channel. Even then, I start crying like a baby. Abuse of animals is something I absolutely cannot tolerate. I just want to find the monsters responsible and whoop on them.

14. It literally keeps me awake at night.
If I'm up at 3:00 in the morning, my husband knows I've seen that commercial. It gives me a sense that the problem is so overwhelming that my little contribution won't put a dent in the suffering of these animals and it breaks my heart. It's as though those are my kids being abused or stuck in cages.

20. "my little contribution won't put a dent"
Look around - EVERYONE on this thread is affected by the commercial and many admit to being moved to help because of it. Every person I have ever talked to about the commercial says the same thing.

That's a lot of people helping to make your dent a bigger dent.

The problem is huge and often feels overwhelming but please don't get discouraged. We need every one making their own little dent if we are ever going to break through. :) and

13. If I worked at a shelter....
I'd be one of those people you hear of who was 100 cats and 50 dogs.

I don't know how they do it, and my hat's off to 'em, especially these days when shelters are full and housepets are being dropped off.

15. THANK GOD FOR ANIMAL SHELTER VOLUNTEERS!
They're the salt of the earth; they work tirelessly and when they have an animal that hasn't been adopted after a long period, one of them is bound to take that animal home. God bless them.

18. I refuse to click for that reason. But to lighten it up, SNL did a bit
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 09:51 AM by UTUSN
during the Weekend Update (Seth MYERS is the best since POEHLER is gone). He brought out somebody acting like her (the singner), did a couple of words of chat, then she was opening her mouth to sing that song, and Seth said, "DON'T sing that song!1" So it went on a couple of more times, words, mouth opening to sing, and Seth would intensify, "Do NOT sing that song!1"
