Salt with Angelina Jolie (no spoilers)
Good movie - good performance by Jolie in the lead role, and the main support was good as well with Liev Schrieber and Chiwetel Ejiofor strong as CIA agents.

The movie stars Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt, a CIA operative who may or may not be a Russian sleeper agent. Some exciting action and some interesting twists in the movie.

1. I should add
that Chiwetel Ejiofor was the alliance operative in "Serenity" - I kept waiting for him to yell out "Target the Reavers"

4. If by "interesting twists" you mean "convoluted and unnecessary twists," then I agree.
Don't get me wrong, it was an entertaining movie. I like watching Angelina Jolie kick some serious ass. But half the time I found myself saying "Wait, what?" There were a couple twists too many in the movie for my liking.

But that's just me.

5. True, some of the twists were a bit convoluted
and, I think some of the things could have been explained better in the movie.

6. My major issue was... *spoilers in post*
...I had no idea whose side she was on in the end. Was she the Russian spy the movie led us to believe she was that decided to go rogue at the last minute? Was she a deep, deep, incredibly deep-cover CIA agent from the very beginning? Does she work for someone else entirely? My brain just couldn't suspend my disbelief enough for it to make sense.

7. My spoilers

I think she was a Russian agent, who turned against the Russians for the love of her German husband, and for Orlov's later murder of him.

I don't think they really developed their (Jolie & Hubby) relationship enough to show that, however. There were some flashes of it, but not enough.

8. That definitely made sense but *more spoilers*
If that was the case, why didn't she assassinate the Russian president like her training would indicate she would? She only made it look like he was dead... Was it all to get back to her husband, just a ploy to get to him and see that he was safe, then escape with him and run for the rest of their lives?

I suppose it does make sense that she would be that attached to her husband, but you're right - they definitely didn't build that relationship up enough to make it believable.

9. more spoilers still
I think she "killed" the Russian president to hopefully flush out more of the Russian sleeper agents... if I'm not mistaken, she had already seen her husband killed & then killed everybody on the boat?

10. Well... *spoliers again*
...I think she "killed" the Russian president first, then got away and came to the secret hideout where she watched them kill her husband, then waited until they told her was was next in the plan (meeting the NATO liaison to the White House on the private plane) before she killed everyone on the boat.

I'm just hung up on why she didn't actually kill the Russian president. That's where it all really falls apart for me. Everything after that can make perfect sense - her going rogue and deciding to destroy these long-awaited plans in an act of revenge - but it starts with her not killing the Russian president for some reason and... That's the part I just can't figure out.

And if she "killed" the Russian president to flush out more agents, then she would have to be some sort of deep, deep, DEEP-cover agent, from when she was just a little kid. I could certainly believe that, but they made no indication that that was the case.

11. good points (more spoilers)
Maybe she realized when she could not find her husband at their apartment that it was too soon for the CIA to have grabbed him or killed him & it must have been Orlov? It was then that she decided to go through with the "assassination" of the Russian president and then hopefully flush out more sleeper agents.

ok, a bit of a stretch, but that's all I could think of.

They certainly set the movie up for a sequel or two, though, with the ending.

12. That's why I liked the movie
In the world of "smoke & mirrors" there are often many unanswered questions.
