How come people only talk about the "cool" drugs?

smoking the reefer...all the time...always about the weed or booze, drunk and posting...


Nobody on DU has ever tried crack? or would admit it?

Been about five years for me...I'm all good with that now- but there were some good party days. Why do you think people are skittish about revealing "bad drug" experiences? Taboo? Reflect badly on your "character"?

But I don't make a habit of it (so to speak...lol.)

I used to talk about it more but those experiences are years behind me and they weren't that good the first time around. My life-motto is "The unexplored life is not worth living." I'm a recovering drug-astronaut...I've tried everything, everything-else and shit you've never imagined. One by one my vices have fallen off...I don't even drink anymore and quit gambling.

Now I just have two vices:

books and fucking.

Best vices anyone could ever have in life.

he was definitely an explorer of how different substances effect the mind - and did a great job of conveying the experience. oh and at times he ran amok and was a hard core drug fiend too. :evilgrin:

And his stories make it clear that those drugs are illegal for good reasons. But hey, if you want to glorify, death, destruction of families, stealing and violence you go right ahead. Me, I think that avoiding that kind of SHITTY behavior is a good thing. But what do I know, I only have a good job and a decent relationship with my family, nice friends my own place a paid off car. Clearly, I'm missing something in my life by not having done anything stronger than a little weed..:grr:

I had a pretty good friend about 10 years ago, we used to grab a beer together every once in a while. Then he quit coming to the bar where I went for happy hour. About six months later I ran into his boss and asked what he was up to. He said he had fired him about a month earlier. When I asked why he said he was strung out on crack. Apparently, he had only started it a few months earlier. Downhill spiral very quickly.

especially if you have the money to throw at it initially, get hooked, then you "find" ways to get it..

Tried it a few times, it's intense, and the craving after the first couple hits is amazing..

First, I have no way of getting it.

Second, I have an addictive personality...I'd be hooked in an instance.

It ruined the early years of my life, and all of the years of his.

They're not stuff to brag about.

Cocaine, Crack, Freebase - all of them made me feel angry and then go bathroom

Opiates on the other hand....MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)

Of course that's the worst kind of drug - the kind that makes you feel as if you were in your mother's arms, and you were 9 months old.

Lived to tell the tale, too. Don't talk about it, because most people I know don't have the same kind of experimental history as I do, and drug talk doesn't interest them. I had an off and on meth habit those years too, dropped acid fairly regularly, and smoked rope. Life is different now, it's all good. I survived, some didn't.

People that mind don't matter, and people that matter don't mind.

One hit, that was it. Right after, all i wanted was one more line, just like it ever was. hadn't done any white drugs since 90 or so before that.

I freebased the 70's. So bad, I went to the store and took my pipe, and took a couple hits on the way there and in the store and one the way home. (I lived about a mile away)My girl told me what I did and I quit that day. Moved out of the house with all my freebase friends and suppliers.

Did some meth during the 80's. But that got old real quick. that stuff was nothing like it is now though. Saw the guy that made it and after that it was easy to quit. I wouldn't let that guy in my house, why would I let something he made invade my body and mind?

The thing is, I have never had sex that was as good since I stopped doing the white drugs..Something about sucking on that pipe and getting some that was so tremendous...The orgasms were unbelievable...

but I love E, i am just too old for it now, the recovery takes a long time for me.

In the 1980s, when Nancy Reagan's Just Say No shit was really heating up, National Lampoon did a piece, "The War on Lomotil," which told parents how to determine if their children were abusing Lomotil. (Lomotil is an antidiarrhea drug...in the article, which was funny as hell, kids were smuggling Lomo from Mexico--where it's OTC--and taking major doses of it to keep from having to go to the bathroom.)

my personal experiences have led me to the conclusion that the best approach to drug use is to stick to weed and the occasional hallucinogen if so inclined.

i spent $5000 on crack one summer so i highly recommend staying away from that.

i've had bad trips on LSD too, but still am glad i did it.

It's the main reason I have never done anything other than smoke weed on a rare occasion.

I've been offered every drug under the sun but my reply is always, "No thanks, I've seen how this movie ends."

i got sick of all the faces of meth bullshit, which was basically let's hate on the hillbillies, and pointed out that meth, pharmaceutical grade, does not do that, and trust me, you just don't wanna go there

it's a class thing, prob. almost everybody here has tried either meth or crack at one point BUT it's considered trashy (plus most people don't care to repeat the experience or get involved w. that lifestyle so it's self protection to distance yourself from those experiments)
