1. I thought it would be excellent

But found it to be tedious. Richard Jenkins did a great job in his part, and was the only highlight of the film IMO. It became sort of clich�d, and the story lacked depth, which seemed to be a feat given the subject matter. I wanted to like it, and after seeing the previews expected much more.

That being said, everyone's taste is different.

It was a pretty decent love story, but there's a plot twist that I found ridiculous and unrealistic, and I didn't have much sympathy for one of the characters because I thought "If you were smarter and handled that better, things would be different..."

I hear the book is very good.
