Have you ever ...
broken up with someone even though you were still in love.

1. Yes. Twice. The first was a terrible mistake that I still regret -
the second needed to happen.

Sometimes you can love someone but know that a relationship between the two of you just isn't going to work.

2. Yes, twice.
Long time ago, before I met my current SO. We were all too young for a serious commitment at the time.

The thing is, I can't forget about those two guys. They haunt my dreams even now. Strange....

On edit, I noticed you changed your avatar. What does it symbolize?

4. No, but the opposite...was broken up with by someone who admitted
she was still in love with me, but that she had to leave me for various reasons (which kept changing ,and she'd come back, then leave again etc). She was pretty much the love of my life (doesn't speak well for my ability to pick 'em does it?)... Took years to recover from that emotional roller coaster. I hope you can resolve this in your own heart and soul pretty soon; it was hell having my situation drag on and on like it did, even though you're describing being on the opposite end of it, but still has to be heart-wrenching in its own way. (I assume you're describing a current situation as opposed to a hypothetical question, although for your peace of mind, I hope it IS just hypothetical).

14. Yeah, it's really kind of embarrassing because it's not like I think about her all the time.

I don't think I'd tell anyone IRL about it, but among semi-anonymous board buddies? It's all good.

12. Yup...
It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I still loved her but knew we were going in polar opposite directions in our lives.
