It's Peter O'Toole Day on TCM! :)
They've already shown "My Favorite Year" and "Becket", and "The Last Emperor" is on now.

Next up is "Lord Jim" followed by "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Ruling Class" and "The Stuntman". I'll definitely be watching the last two again :D

3. My oldest brother was an extra in a movie with Peter O'Toole
and one of my favorites, Robin Williams- "Club Paradise"- maybe not good enough for the P. O'T. film fest
The movie was filmed near Port Antonio, Jamaica (a not-so-touristy small town) in the mid-80s when my brother and his family were living there for a half a year.
In the movie my bro. is dancing in the bar.
My husband and I were visiting my brother and his family just before filming was to begin. Later it occurred to us why we were treated so well by people in the area... I think they thought we were connected with the movie production crew. ;)

4. Although I've never seen it, I'd guess it's not very high caliber
;)

That's a cool thing to happen, too, having a family member working in the same movie. Did he get to meet any of the stars? Oh, if you have a clip of him dancing, post it :P

7. Saw it last night, The Ruling Class, my first time. Gosh.
This would be the first movie I see totally in years. I sometimes leave things running in the background while I'm doing THIS (DU), never sitting or lying and WATCHING things.

Anyway, it was engrossing. Completely. O'TOOLE himself as always. It is a HUGH unfairness of life itself that all his nominations didn't get him the prize/knickknack. It was SO touching a few years ago when he was approached about being given an honorary Oscar and he said modestly, but with his subtlety might be snarky, "Oh, no? I still might have time to EARN one?"

Anyway, this whole movie was SO complexly ODD. It didn't seem dated, and the purposely disjointed MOVEMENT of the characters, in or out of the song/dance sequences, took some getting used to, but highlighted the satirical targets of the culture/society/characters.

What a level of mental capacity and sophistication for a writer, whoever it was, and then the actors. I got moments of real laughter at the zanniness and of chills at the spookiness. Just wow.
