Now this doesn't happen very often....

we closed schools today because of the heat. :crazy:

I'm glad they did, students and teachers were in rooms that were 93 degrees. The third floor of the jr. high was 103 degrees.

4. We used to get a few "snow days" every winter in Maine

but yes, not that many because snow is expected.
Anytime the temp is over 90 in ME it's worth noting.

since they called school off for today, technically they are using a "snow day". The kids were there for more than half the day yesterday,so it won't count against them.

wonder what winter will bring this year....

That is freaky!

Dropped off MG Jr's supplies at the school yesterday and it was stifling. Glad the heat wave is supposed to end before school starts next Wednesday.

Our problem is more that we don't have snow-clearing equipment, or snow tires on buses, or any such thing. Of course, I suspect our heaters aren't quite as bad-ass as yours. When I hear people talk about furnaces and basements and various types of heating fuels, I don't even know what language they are speaking. :)

I don't need no stinkin' snow tires. Never bought them. Never will. Slap the sucker into four wheel drive and I'm golden. I still drive slow and responsibly when the road conditions call for it.

Maine civilized? Maybe in Portland and other points south. Shit, head up way north and the kids are out of school for a month to pick potatoes. :rofl:

12. The first time I saw a central a/c unit was 4 years ago

when I visited my sister in NJ... she and all her neighbors had these blocklike metal thing-ies in their backyards... she and my BIL thought it was funny when I asked what they were for. :blush:.... :dunce:

11. it's been like this all summer

and it started early this year too. I'm looking forward to hurricane Earl. Hoping he's going to bring us some cooler weather.

Hell, this is the first summer in 15 years that I have a full tan.
