Pet owners - Advantage or Revolution?

Ever since my dog first came home, she has been on Advantage and free of fleas. She will be 8 years old in April. Six months ago the vet talked me into changing to Revolution.

What's your experience with Revolution? I'm now finding a few fleas on her, even though I've not missed a dosage. It may be because the place where we live now is overrun with rabbits that are dropping fleas everywhere, but there were lots of free roaming cats where he lived before.

She's due to go back to the vet and I'm thinking about putting her back on Advantage and Heartguard.

1. Jessie is on Advantage and, for heartworm, Interceptor. There is a

higher than normal record of seizure and death in herding dogs on Hearguard. Hope I have helped. :hi:

2. I use Frontline for my dog

He likes water and Frontline is waterproof...the others aren't to my knowledge.

I had no problems at all with Advantage either. The vet talked me into the Revolution, which doesn't seem as effective.

4. Revolution. My vet said that with it, you do not need to...

"treat" the surrounding environment, i.e. spraying the house with flea-bombs, etc.

Also, Revolution will kill heartworms and some other harmful parasites.

I treat my two cats with it during the warm months (now through September), and they tolerate it beautifully.

6. We use Advantage

We have six country kitties who go outside and one of them has a severe flea allergy. With Advantage we have no fleas. None. Ever. And it's well tolerated even by our 15-year-old.

7. Yes, Advantage did that for my dog, too.

I never saw a flea with Advantage, but the Revolution just doesn't seem to offer the same protection. I occasionally see 2 or 3 fleas. But they might just be fleas picked up from her walks (because of all the rabbits) and they might be quickly dying and falling off. It's hard for me to know because of the move to "Rabbit Kingdom."

She's certainly not infested with fleas, but I hate to even see one or two.

Since your animials are outside and don't have fleas, I'd say the Advantage might be better.
