1. we went to the mountains of West Virginia last weekend to a lovely state
park - stayed at a rustic cabin. We went to lakes and mountains and mountain lakes this summer instead of the ocean, and I have to say it was very nice- cheaper than the beach, too!
3. yeah, that's a bit of a haul for you - just a few hours from here in SW PA
what mountains are near Atlanta? I seem to recall people saying great things about Asheville NC- but that's probably a bit far. I have been to Gatlinburg, that was lovely too.
7. well it's been 90 up here for a while, but supposed to cool down with the rain
I dunno, a lot of folks I know go to the beach in September if they don't have school age kids..
Of course, there is the hurricane factor to consider. We used to go to Hatteras years ago - wild to see Earl bearing down on it. I never realized how far out the peninsula we really were there. It was worth it to see the Milky Way at night and it was so much less crowded that Nags Head.
