is puppy chow good for adult dogs?

That's all my POS dogs will eat and the vet says as long as they are happy and active it should be ok but I worry.my oldest male shepp *3 1/2 years old* is getting fat.Seriously fat.He was about 85 lbs a year ago and now he goes 100.Will the higher fat content hurt them or should I just let them be fat and happy as long as they are healthy?

1. I guarantee that isn't all they will eat, but

as long as it is a decent quality it is ok for adult dogs. Feed less if they are fat. No an obese dog is not healthy - they have the same problems as people: painful joints, diabetes, pancreatic disease, heart failure etc etc How can they be happy if in pain?

Have you tried "cutting" the puppy chow with other low-calorie foods? Boiled potato, pumpkin, apple sauce, etc. My dogs love those things and that way you could feed a little less to help them lose weight without them feeling as hungry (hopefully).

On edit: Or try adding sauces to adult foods they normally won't eat - tomato sauce, barbecue – just squirt a bit on top.
