Let's talk about girl cleaning

My two daughters, ages 4.5 and 2.25 seem to get dirty within moments of getting out of the bathtub.

Is duct tape the solution to my problem?

5. The problem is apparently non gender specific. My 5 year old boy

has the same problem. Let me know if you get good advice. I thought I could stop carrying Wipies around when he got potty trained. Not the case though.

6. What are you letting your daughters and son do right out of the tub?

If you bathe them right before bed, get them in their jammies and into bed...therefore alleviating the problem?!
As for the boys getting dirty, it's a fact of life, and wipes are going to be with you forever. Better get a suitcase/purse.

17. I know EXACTLY how relaxing warm water is.

My mom gave me and my sister baths together (for prolly much longer than she should have... I was at least 8, and my sister 4, before she stopped).

Without fail, my sis pooped in the bath tub.

Be thankful that they don't cry if they get a little smudge on their little smocks! If I had daughters I'd rather have 'em that wanted to get dirty than that were afraid to get dirty.

it only gets worse as they get older. Sometimes they start voluntarily keeping themselves clean when they start dating, but they won't voluntarily start keeping their surroundings clean until they're about 30. That's true for both male and female children; so long as they're around parental-type persons, they will live in complete squalor, and will be perfectly happy to do so.

I think it's one of Nature's strategies to make us more willing to see them fly the nest. ("GAH! Get the hell OUT of here, you filthy pigs! You're 30 years old - quit living on my couch and get a JOB!")

I have an 11 year old female child who MUST be told when to bathe, and I hear from friends etc that this is NORMAL!

I don't remember protesting about bathing. I think I rather enjoyed it.

I woulda thought boys would be the stinky ones, but I tell ya, some of the girls in my daughter's class are shmelly nellies! Nasty little pits!!!!

26. Boys aren't any easier!

Mine older two boys have tried to smuggle in inchworms for pets and various other gross things. They make the bathroom a mess. They have done various experiments with food, markers, crayons, and glue. We just had a grand time with the Spy kit my 8 year old had (i.e. fingerprinting stuff). My youngest son though is 2.5 and neurotically tidy. He's just happy to beat up his big brothers and play with his trains, but he likes to be clean at all times and will let me know if he's dissatisfied with the level of cleanliness.
