Top Gear trio spotted in NYC
So what's a little spur-of-the-moment 400 mile road trip anyway? I got nuthin' else going on today.

So anyway, when I get there, how long before I find them? Five minutes? Ten if there's a lot of traffic?

1. If the Stig is with them,
then your son will find them faster :P

2. Haven't you heard?
There ain't no Stig at the moment. Ben Collins fessed up (wrote a book), which is against his contract, so he was fired. They're kind of still in limbo about what they're going to do for this coming set of episodes (to be aired in December according to some folk, January according to others).

Hmm...maybe my kid will have his chance now?

3. I'm a year behind you "True Fans" tm
because I'm too lazy to hunt down the new seasons online. I'm paying for BBCA anyway on DishNetwork, so I let the DVR catch what they air :)

4. Good news
BBCA heard fans' complaints and are going to air the next season uncut. So enjoy! :toast:

5. Okay, great :)
They're currently airing the "Lost Episodes", whatever that means. I mean, if the BBCA studios are that disorganized that they lose episodes within a season, then they shouldn't be on the air at all.

:P

7. The current "Lost Episodes" is actually all of Series 5 (from 2004). Oh, and
do NOT miss the next episode. My favorite Top Gear "bit" ever. They try to pick a good car out of the (then) current crop of cars from the Pacific Rim. Hilarious. Unless of course *that* part is the 15 minute chunk they cut out this week.

I'll leave in about an hour or so. Any good places for dinner in NYC? I've heard something about...um...Olluve Giardin? Is that right?

8. Might as well have one more funny, epic trip to the US
before Top Gear USA comes out with their three talentless hacks and makes a mockery of the whole thing.

They were in (I believe) VA a few days ago.

10. 'Zactly
I'm already pissed off that every news item about TG being in America has to have the disclaimer "NOT TG USA, but the original TG guys..." etc. x(

I can only hope that TG USA dies a quick and painless death and is written off as a bad job. So we can get back to the only TG team that matters!

Oh--and upon trolling the interwebs today looking for info about their road trip, I learned that the drove up the East Coast from VA to NY, and en route made a stop in Intercourse, PA. Of course.

12. I was watching some older auto clips on YouTube
And one of them had Tim Allen (Home Improvement) on Leno's show. I thought to myself, he's not doing anything. He's a proper car nut, he can be funny when he wants, why not ask him to do the show? I'd add Christian Slater and Adam Carolla. Both also not doing much, both excellent drivers and certified car nuts.

Moe, Larry and Curly would be better than the idiots they have for Top Gear USA.

15. Driving a Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes SLS AMG and Porsche 911 GT3
from VA (they did some raceday racing at Virginia Intl Raceway with some of the locals) to New York. Probably without attempting to get killed by rednecks.

17. Did they enter "guido" territory at the Jersey Shore?
Edited on Sat Sep-18-10 03:43 PM by MorningGlow
That would be...:scared: I'm Italian American and it would scare ME! (As it is, it just irritates the hell out of me.)

TG in NYC:

On edit: Whoops I didn't see your post upthread!
