Many people consider Opeth a death metal band

But I think they belong in the subgenre of progressive metal. It's true that they have the low, distorted, growling vocals in some of their songs that is characteristic of death metal bands, but there are so many influences at work in Opeth's music that I don't think that they really fit into that subgenre of metal. You can hear thrash, jazz, death, classical, and pop influences at work in Opeth's music. Here is one of those genre-bending songs that's one of my favorite songs of all time by any musicians of any genre. It's a live version of the tune and the video is shitty, but the audio is really good for a bootleg. It was filmed in Australia.
