Interesting Festus trivia
He was not from the city of Festus, MO.

http://www.cityoffestus.org/

His mules name was Ruth.

At times he was deputized by Dillon.

He squinted with his right eye.

He had a twin brother.

He was named after a character from the Bible.

He named his rifle Ol' Bessie

He liked to name things.

He brushed his teeth with his index finger. (C'mon...who doesn't...really.)

1. I saw Ken Curtis play his "Festus" character on "Have Gun, Will Travel".

His character was called "Monk" and I wonder if this is what he based Festus upon.

3. Don't remember if he did, but it was a dead-on Festus, though.
He did do the Ken Curtis singing and they got him all cleaned up as well.

I saw a Gunsmoke episode when Ken Curtis had been appearing as Festus, but he played a straight part as a handsome bad guy.

5. A Festus for the Rest'us!
My grandmother had a thing for Festus. I never could decide if it was because he reminded her of her family or if he made her family look sophisticated.
