2. Jah, my first thought was tofu.
I only buy extra-firm, then I freeze it to make it firmer still.

5. Rock hard with 3 inches of memory foam on top of it.
Hardest damn mattress I had ever had the misfortune to sleep on. I got fed up with it and talked to a guy I know who owns a mattress company. I was all set to buy a new mattress but he suggested that I try a memory foam mattress pad first.

He asked me a bunch of questions about how I sleep and what position I'm in when I wake up in the morning. Based on that information, he suggested at least two--maybe three--inches of memory foam on top of that mattress. He said he usually doesn't suggest straight memory foam for a mattress because of the fact that it will compress over time, but that with a removable mattress pad you can buy a new one every so often and not have to replace the entire mattress as often.

BEST advice I have ever been given! Soft but not saggy--ZERO back issues, and no stress pain from sleeping too long in any one position.

I freaking LOVE my bed!
