1. We called them Sam Brown belts back in my day
Crossing guards even had a shinny badges and a hat to go with belt.

The Auto Club, California State Automobile Association (CSAA) gave me two; patrol, and honor. The honor badge was for perfect attendance which promoted me to 'boss' for fifteen minutes a day. Woo hoo!
