Why should even-tempered people avoid the stock market?

Why should even-tempered people avoid the stock market?

I cannot recall the exact words, but doesn't the conventional wisdom hold that people should buy when they are feeling low and sell when they are manic? Such advice will keep manic-depressives and their stock brokers active in the stock market. However, what about everybody else?

I mention her here because her father was a hot-headed son-of-a-gun who lost a bundle on 10/19/1987.

His lack of "even temper" certainly didn't help him any.

If the dog who eats is odd and the dog who is eaten is also odd, then evens can sit back and watch without getting fat or dead.
