6. Because a dear friend of mine's father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung
cancer yesterday. He is only 60. He was given 30-45 days. He went in thinking he had bronchitis.

8. 1 is too many, and 10,000 not nearly enough
I am 1 puff away from a pack a day. (and at $7.50 a it pack gets expensive)
And most importantly. I don';t ever want to have to repeat that first year of being quit.

9. An occasional cigar or cigarette is OK
The problem is that nicotine is addictive and most people can't just have an occasional smoke.

10. Try to do something instead of
Anything. I got started back up more than once thinking I could fool around with one cigarette. I had to quit 4 times over my life and it was harder every time. I so remember being obsessed with the thought of lighting up. The obcessive/intrusive thinking will decrease the longer you go without. Much easier said than done. Good luck!

12. Because your loved ones do not deserve to have to watch to die...
We watched my mother in law die of lung cancer in 2009. It was the most heart wrenching thing I have ever had to do. She was the only real mother I have ever known and she loved me just because she wanted to. And she was sweet and smart and fun. I still feel like I'm missing a limb.
My father died gasping for breath from emphysema caused by heavy smoking.
I'm sure you are too good of a person to give up on quitting. When you start having troubles with quitting. Think about your family, your pets, etc. No one deserves to die that way.

13. My grandad died that way, too
He had lung cancer AND emphysema. Died with half a lung left. It's an awful way to go.
